Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader C. Joseph Vijay is scheduled to visit Coimbatore on September 30 before travelling by road to Dharapuram in Tiruppur district for the ongoing Assembly by-election campaign. In view of his movement through the city, Coimbatore City Police have announced temporary traffic diversions and restrictions on several major routes.

The major restriction concerns heavy vehicles. Heavy vehicles will be prohibited from entering Coimbatore city between 7 AM and 9 PM on September 30. Buses and heavy vehicles arriving from Salem, Erode and Tiruppur will be diverted from the Neelambur area and directed towards the L&T Bypass, Chinthamanipudur, Ondipudur and Singanallur before entering the city. Light motor vehicles from the Neelambur side have also been advised to use the alternative route.

For vehicles travelling out of Coimbatore towards Avinashi Road, buses and heavy vehicles will be required to take a U-turn at Lakshmi Mills Junction and proceed through Puliyakulam, Ramanathapuram and Singanallur to reach the L&T Bypass. Light vehicles travelling through Avinashi Road and VK Road can use Masakkalipalayam Road to reach Singanallur. Vehicles approaching from the Hope College area have been advised to take a U-turn at Tidel Park Junction and proceed via Kamarajar Road.

Special instructions have also been issued for passengers travelling through Coimbatore International Airport. Passengers and vehicles dropping off or picking up travellers have been advised to reach the airport at least 30 minutes before the scheduled travel time. Taxis, cars and other vehicles will not be permitted to park inside the airport premises during the restrictions.

Additional security and traffic arrangements have been made along the route towards Dharapuram. Authorities have advised motorists and the general public to plan their journeys in advance, follow the designated alternative routes and cooperate with the traffic police to avoid delays during the Chief Minister’s movement.

The administration has also imposed temporary restrictions on drone operations in several areas of Coimbatore in connection with the visit. The reported restriction is in force from September 29 to October 1 in notified areas, with legal action warned against violations.
