Coimbatore City Traffic Police have started using advanced speed-monitoring devices to identify vehicles exceeding the prescribed speed limit within the city.
The speed limit in the monitored areas has been set at 40 km/h. Vehicles found travelling above the permitted speed will be photographed, and fines will be issued to the registered owners based on the violations detected.
The speed-monitoring initiative has initially been launched in the PL Nagar area of Avinashi Road and Chinniyampalayam. Officials have reported that several vehicles were detected travelling at excessive speeds during the initial monitoring.
The traffic police have stated that similar speed-monitoring checks will be conducted regularly in various parts of Coimbatore. The daily monitoring is aimed at discouraging over-speeding, improving compliance with traffic regulations, and enhancing road safety for motorists and pedestrians.
Vehicle owners are advised to follow the prescribed speed limits and drive responsibly, particularly along busy city roads and areas where speed-monitoring operations are being carried out.
